In the bunker

Hey everyone,

Hope the new year has been treating you well. We’ve been locked away over the couple of weeks tracking  some new tunes and trying to find a richer sound compared to some of the recording we’ve done in the past.

We’ve done a load of experimenting and are getting a really good feeling about all the new stuff. We’re starting to put the final touches to a couple of them so we’ll let you know the moment the’re available.

Don’t forget to put March the 16th in your diary and come to the 12 Bar, Denmark St. and you’ll be able to hear some of the new stuff.

Hx

Gig @ 12 Bar

Hi Everyone,

As mentioned in my previous post Mike Brightley is going to be playing at the 12 Bar in the new year. He has very kindly arranged for us to be on the bill with him for his gig on March 16th. This will probably our first gig in London for 2010 and we’ll be showcasing a bunch of new songs. We’d be really greatful if you could stick the date in your diary and come and have a great time with us.

Socialising down the Northern Line

Sorry it has been a while as myself and Nick have started to track new tunes so we’ve been hibernating in the studio. That all changed when we went on a big social starting in High Barnet for food with the girls, stopping off for beers near St. Martins Lane and then ending in Borough where we saw two different sets of friends play two different gigs just round the corner from each other! The first was Nick’s friend Liz – normally found DJ’ing  – singing backing vox for a very infectious funk band. DOn’t know what they’re called but i’ll post it when I have the details.  The night was ended by a great set from Tom Mansi and the Icebreakers where they were showcasing  material from their soon to be released new album. Haven’t heard the mastered tracks yet, but on the strength of this it’ll be excellent.

Natascha Leonie Album OUT NOW

I’ve been listening to my good friend Natascha Leonie’s debut album Forget Humble. She has a beautiful, husky, sad voice and is touring Germany, her home country, at the moment and will be gigging London in November.  Check out the Album on itunes, napster, Amazon etc.

Beavering Away – sort of!

Well, after charging up and down the M40 last weekend for our  gig in Brum I had a very chilled weekend whilst Nick beavered away in the studio putting the finishing touches to a track written by Jessie Northern. He had big smiley face on as it was the first serious work he’s done on the new speakers since he got them. They are very nice. He did a  9 hour day while I read the papers ;-) I did feed him though.  It was slightly surreal by the end as Jessie’s track is a Jonas  Jonas Brothers / Demi Lovato type tune and  to see Nick humming away to the Disney /  Hollywood records back catalogue was a once in a lifetime experience :-)

Sunflower Sessions

Big thanks to all of you who came to the Sunflower Sessions gig in Brum on Sunday. Only the second time we’ve played there but it has become one of our favourite gigs to play. Tom and Simon are really cool and make you feel welcome and they always book some top acts. Coupled with fact you can get a great curry and we get to hook up with friends it makes it a top weekend.

Anyone who lives close should really go down and support it as much as poss. First Sunday of each month.
